Green Widows FAQ

What is Green Widows?

babble Green Widows is a family friendly, intimate "crew and friends only" camp out weekend with music and more.

Ticket numbers are strictly limited and we don't sell tickets on the open market, preferring to ask for ticket requests, so that we can make sure we only issue tickets to our friends & their friends. This has allowed us to create a really intimate, lovely vibe.

This year's Green Widows site is open from midday Friday 31st July, to midday Monday 3rd August 2026, and for the bargain price of £85 (£25 for children) you can expect:

The ticket price includes music on Friday, Saturday and also Sunday (till 11pm only), and the cost of 3 nights camping in your tents or vans and any cars you might want to park.

Why have the ticket prices gone up again this year?

This year in particular we've seen a substantial increase in our costs, which has made the price rise unavoidable.

Despite the obvious advantages for event income, we've always chosen not to have a licensed bar at the Green Widows, preferring instead to allow people to bring their own alcohol and other refreshments with them, to keep costs down. There is food for sale throughout the day, but you are of course welcome to bring and cook your own food too.

Because of the small numbers, and the costs of putting on something like this, it should be obvious that we are not in this for the money. We do it for the same reason we've always done it; because we love it (and we know from feedback you've given us after previous events that you love it too…).

Our aim when setting our ticket pricing is to bring in just enough money to cover our costs so we can stage the event again next year. Any surplus goes towards storage, equipment repairs, and deposits for next year.

If I DJ or help out at your event, can I have a free ticket?

Generally speaking, we are not able to pay, or give out free tickets to DJs or the many other people who make amazing contributions to make the party so fantastic (even the crew pay for their tickets!). We do this to keep the costs down for all.

We have in previous years been able to give a partial refund to some contributors. Unfortunately we came perilously close to losing money last year, so while we may do this again if we can, we can't make any promises.

We'd rather ask everyone to pay full price and offer something back if we can, than raise ticket prices even further to cover the cost of discounts.

There are some exceptions: we do pay for essential services that no-one in the crew could provide, like toilets, generators and marquees. In exceptional circumstances we may also cover travel costs for a guest DJ, but this must always be agreed well in advance as we set a very limited budget for this to stop costs spiralling.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes! Dogs are welcome at Green Widows, but they must be kept on leads at all times while on the festival site. We love having dogs around, but we learned the hard way after previous years that off-lead dogs can cause damage to art installations and facilities, leaving us with extra cleaning and repair costs.

So please keep your furry friends under control, and everyone (two-legged and four) will have a great time.
